Upon her arrival at the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM) in the spring of 2010, Irène Marcheterre was chief of staff and director of communications and is now the Director of communications, access to information and development of partnerships. Ms. Marcheterre holds a master’s degree in political science and has unique expertise in crisis management, public relations and, more generally, in communication; expertise gained through the strategic positions she has held over the years in both the private and public sectors. Visionary manager, she is recognized for her ability to deliver innovative projects, in addition to being a positive and stimulating team leader.
Ms. Marcheterre has extensive experience in the political arena, including as communications director for the federal Minister of Transport and, more recently, as chief of staff and director of communications for the leader of the official opposition of the City of Montréal. In these positions, she demonstrated her leadership skills in managing important issues in politicized, high profile organizations.
As the CHUM’s Director of communications, access to information and development of partnerships, Irène Marcheterre played a key role in strategic management of communications and the CHUM’s relationship with the community (patients, staff, donors, partners, political and international representatives). She managed the organization’s priority issues. Ms. Marcheterre is responsible for the CHUM’s brand image and all related communications, along with managing the development of partnerships in the world of knowledge and innovation for the CHUM.
At the CHUM, Ms. Marcheterre heads a dynamic team made up of communication advisors, multimedia production professionals (medical photographers, graphic designers, technicians) and an events department.
Socially involved, she has held board positions in the homelessness community (Accueil Bonneau and the Movement to End Homelessness in Montreal (MMFIM). She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Quartier de l’innovation en santé – Montréal HID since December 2022
